Date: March 19–21, 2026
Venue: University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Ghana

Background

The Africa Education Summit is a premier continental platform that brings together policymakers, educators, researchers, EdTech innovators, and development partners to shape the future of education across Africa.

History of the Africa Education Summit

The Africa Education Summit is a yearly convening of leading educational minds, policymakers, researchers, innovators, and practitioners across the continent and beyond, committed to shaping the future of African education. The journey of this Summit so far has been impactful and influential:

1️⃣ The First Edition was hosted by the University of Rwanda from March 22–24, 2023. The summit focused on Mental Health in African Schools, a topic of critical relevance, especially post-pandemic, and featured top-notch speakers from across the world. Among them was Prof. Lilian Salami, the then Deputy Vice President of the Association of African Universities. The summit concluded with a resolution outlining key steps African education systems need to take to strengthen mental health support structures.

2️⃣ The Second Edition was held at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom from April 2–4, 2024. The theme centered on Entrepreneurship in the Africa Education Sector, drawing comparisons with European models. Participants were offered a rare experience at the world’s leading Virtual Reality Laboratory, located within the University of Nottingham, giving them direct exposure to cutting-edge educational technologies. Notably, the summit attracted participation from Africa, America and Europe.

3️⃣ The Third Edition was proudly hosted by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of Zimbabwe from April 3–5, 2025 at the iconic Victoria Falls. The summit, under the theme Translating Our Educational Advancement to Continental Development: A Strategic Approach, was officially opened by H.E. Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe, alongside his Vice President and cabinet members, underscoring the high-level political endorsement and continental significance of the event.

Following the success of the 3rd edition held in Zimbabwe in 2025, the 4th Africa Education Summit will be held from March 19–21, 2026, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Ghana.
